While you are here
Hi and welcome to the SKYCITY Grand Hotel, situated at the heart of Auckland's entertainment centre.
Representing the concierge team, Jeremy Wilson, Chief Concierge has worked in the hospitality industry for over 15 years.
Here are some questions and answers to help you plan your stay:
What do you always get asked?
Funnily enough, the most common question I get asked at the Concierge Desk is “How do I get to the Sky Tower?”
What is your favourite thing to do in Auckland?
Being a family man with a young family, my options often revolve around family activities to local parks, beaches and walks through our native reserves. However, my favourite activity to do around Auckland is playing Golf. We are so spoilt in New Zealand, we have access to so many quality golf courses that are only 45 minutes drive from the City. Come and have a chat to us and we can recommend which courses to try during your stay.
Where can I get the best coffee?
Auckland’s coffee scene has grown from strength to strength over the years, I would recommend heading down to Espresso Workshop in Britomart or Curator Espresso Bar on Kitchener Street in the CBD to try something a bit different.
Describe the perfect day in Auckland?
Auckland is a vibrant city full of culture, beauty and activities. I would highly recommend exploring Waiheke Island, our largest island in the region. Boasting breathtaking beaches and renowned vineyards. A short 45 minutes ferry ride will give you access to adventure activities with EcoZip Adventures, Horse riding and variety of Zealand wines. With vineyards such as Mudbrick, Cable Bay and Stonyridge, you will definitely end your day there enjoying the wines that the island offer.
What restaurants are popular at the moment?
Auckland restaurants have evolved dramatically with many outstanding restaurants on offer. Below are the 2 most popular restaurants around Auckland that our guests often enquire about:
Orbit 360° Restaurant - This is one of Auckland’s most iconic restaurants that even we as Concierges struggle to secure a table for our hotel guests. With its 360° panorama views towering over Auckland city and Hauraki Gulf and its kiwi-inspired menu to compliment the views, this is definitely a must do on the Auckland restaurant bucket list.
Cassia - The sister restaurant to Sidart, to one of New Zealand’s award winning restaurants. Owner’s Sid and Chand, really showcases their Indian heritage through a modern contemporary dining experience of traditionally Indian dishes. Already receiving Two Hats in the Cuisine Awards this year, Cassia is one culinary dining experience you don’t want to miss out on.
Don’t forget to also stay connected while you are here with our free WI-FI. There is no data cap or time limit. If you require assistance connecting, - just ask your Concierge for help.
